"Paul has demonstrated a keen interest in taking our concerns to the Government."
Water and sewerage are important to the health and wellbeing of NSW communities.
I recently participated in a Water Inquiry, which highlighted the need for long term, strategic water planning in NSW and the concerns regarding the future of water affordability.
Yes, we need water accessibility, but it means nothing if the water is unaffordable. It is estimated that by 2050 the population of NSW will reach 9.8 million and we will have a 70% increase in food requirements.
It is imperative that we have good management of water use, as it is such a vital resource and it is alarming to me that we have not done more to secure water for our future needs.
Residents in Regional NSW have raised strong concerns regarding water pricing, as the current equation is unfair and highlights the inequality in pricing that some of our farmers are facing.
We need to work towards drought proofing our state, we need to be building more dams and establish better water harvesting and recycling mechanisms. We cannot delay this, as it is essential for the economic health of our state.
During my time in Parliament I have listened and shown interest in the issues surrounding water security and affordability, and I have taken these issues to the Government.
Over the last 8 years the Christian Democratic Party has held the balance of power in the NSW State Government, and if re-elected, I will continue to hold the Government to account and continue to bring these issues to the Government.
