It may be June, but this is Christmas in July. On the eve of the 2018 Budget, Hon. Paul Green MLC, joined with the NSW Government to announce $1.5billion has been secured for the Princes Highway.
Today I am pleased to see the confirmation of funding for the proposed third crossing of the Shoalhaven River, this will potentially turbocharge our economy.
I welcome the announcement that the NSW Government has entered into a 50:50 funding agreement to deliver the $310 million replacement of the Nowra Bridge over the Shoalhaven River at Nowra, with $155 million secured in this week’s budget for the project.
I look forward to continuing to work with the community to get the best option for the crossing – we want nothing but the gold standard for our city.
As the former Mayor of Shoalhaven I know how vital the Princes Highway is to our community, visitors, businesses and economy.
In addition the NSW State Budget will deliver major upgrades to the Princes Highway. Major projects to be delivered include the Albion Park Rail bypass, the Berry to Bomaderry upgrade, and the Batemans Bay Bridge replacement, which together will greatly improve travel times and save lives.
Since my election in 2011 I have fought to see the delivery of the multiple stages of the Princes Highway upgrade and I am pleased with today's announcement.
